New projects in development

Súrefni reported that a project with Linkpower had begun in late 2023, seeking to develop plastic collection and recycling credits under Verra methodologies. The project concerned GorKomTrans, a municipal solid waste operator in Karaganda, Kazakhstan.

The update described a network collecting different plastic materials, with particular attention to PET recycling. It also noted participation by local businesses and residents, supported by sorting and recycling processes.

The project description reported investment in collection vehicles, collection points and processing facilities. Anticipated plastic credit revenue was intended to help expand the transport fleet and improve waste processing technology.

Súrefni also reported progress in its work with Virta’s European electric vehicle charging network. That work aimed to develop carbon credits associated with Virta’s activities; the update did not provide a completed registration, verification or issuance result.
