REDD+ projects in Brazil

This February 2023 article responded to criticism of REDD+ projects supporting forest protection in Brazil’s Amazon region. Súrefni encouraged readers to consider Verra’s technical response before drawing conclusions about those projects.

At that time, Súrefni stated that it did not consider the case against the environmental contribution of such certified credits sufficiently established to withdraw them from its marketplace. The article noted that several customers had purchased these credits and expressed support for financing protection of vulnerable forest areas in Brazil.
