Public-sector services
Climate advisory for public institutions.
Practical support for Icelandic institutions working through Green Steps and strengthening their climate reporting. We help teams establish their emissions evidence, assess credit-related requirements and organise the records behind their environmental work.
Support for Green Steps.
Green Steps, or Græn skref, is Iceland’s programme for public institutions and majority state-owned organisations improving the environmental performance of office operations. It uses five steps and structured checklists. Surefni’s service supports the climate-related work within this process, helping participating teams understand the information they need and prepare a coherent record of their activities. The work is scoped around the institution’s stage and current programme requirements.
Establish an emissions record.
We support greenhouse gas assessment through qualified partners using the GHG Protocol approach. This includes clarifying the reporting period, organisational boundary and data required for the assessment. A consistent record helps institutions understand their footprint and provides a basis for comparing subsequent reporting periods. We help teams bring the calculation and its supporting information into the wider programme documentation.
Make informed credit decisions.
Where the institution’s programme or climate plan includes a credit purchase, we help assess the relevant project information and organise the procurement enquiry. Our advisory considers the project activity, programme, traceability and evidence supporting the credits. Institutions can discuss Icelandic project options alongside their reporting objectives, with the purchase purpose and supporting records clearly defined.
Prepare for the next review.
We help the team connect its emissions assessment, reduction measures and credit-related activity in a clear account of the work completed. The engagement can focus on a specific reporting requirement or support the institution over several stages. Clear documentation makes the work easier to hand over, update and explain during the institution’s programme review.
